It is very comforting and helps you realize what is really important in life. Simply beautiful. The Next Place is the perfect book to read if you are dealing with death on any level--death of a loved one, a pet, or even the fear of death. This is a simple book of poetry and pictures.
It brings peace to those who read it. This book is a must have for anyone going through a loss. It is non-denominational and the illustrations are beautiful.
Kind of artsy. It does have some intersting pictures. But, just not what I was looking for, and my kids didn't seem to like this one very much. I have been buying books for meself and my two boys for a loss of someone very dear to us. I have found some to be comforting, but unfortunately this was not one of them.
The 10 year old has really taken to this book. I'm thankful for picking this right book and helping in the coping process with these girls. I gave this book to a friend's daughters who just lost their dad in a horrible car accident. She goes to the school counselor weekly and each time brings up this book that now she has a better understanding about the place her dad is now. The book has beautiful illustrations and a nice story that both girls could understand. The girls are 7 and 10. He died the day of the 10 year old bday party.
I soundly recommend this book to anyone. I have a dear friend who is facing a difficult time in her life with a bad prognosis so I bought one for her. I received this book from a relative living far away from me when my husband died. I shed a few tears while reading it.knowing that he was indeed in the next place and that it is a much better place.
